Mathematics is everywhere. It is about number, shape and change. Learning in maths looks like solving problems and using our imagination to think differently and creatively. Maths is logical but it is also philosophical and can help us understand and ask questions about the world around us.

Mathematics is a way of thinking and communicating ideas that has many uses in our everyday lives and in many careers. From finances to physics, sports to sociology, engineering to economics and coding to cooking, being confident in our mathematical skills has a wide range of valuable applications.

Currently we offer National 5 Mathematics, Higher Mathematics, Advanced Higher Mathematics and Advanced Higher Mechanics. In all of our courses, learners will develop an ability to:

  • understand and use mathematical concepts and relationships

  • select and apply operational skills in algebra, geometry, trigonometry and statistics within familiar mathematical contexts

  • select and apply skills in numeracy

  • use mathematical models

  • use mathematical reasoning skills to interpret information, to select a strategy to solve a problem, and to communicate solutions
